Episode 8: Vipoo Srivilasa – Daily rituals and finding happiness in artmaking

Over the past few years, I have been more conscious of my daily routines, especially working in the arts and creative industry. Ideas don’t always flourish and they often appear out of nowhere. It’s hard to tell when creative ideas will come by but when they do it’s also hard to stop. I’ve always wondered how our everyday actions could drive, shape, and foster our creative juices. In this conversation, I sat down with Thai-born, Melbourne-based artist Vipoo Srivilasa and we spoke about the importance of routines and finding ideas and inspirations from everyday objects. We also spoke the meaning of happiness in his practice as well as the pressures and expectations of being an artist and having a ‘signature’ style. It was such an honest and heartwarming conversation to kick start the year. Tune in for more!
