Curating SE Asian art: research and ideation
Online 2-day short course

From exhibition-making to public programming, this course will introduce and explore the different kinds of curating in Southeast Asia and beyond. This course is delivered in 2 x 4-hour sessions and will provide foundational skills in curatorial research, writing, and management. You will learn to develop ideas into a project that speaks to your surroundings. By the end of the course, you will produce a curatorial project proposal and receive professional feedback.
This course is designed for students and industry professional development. Limited spots are available, capped at 15 participants.

Instructor:
Bianca Winataputri is a curator, writer, podcast host, and Ph.D. candidate in Art History and Theory at Monash Art, Design, and Architecture (MADA). Her research and teaching focus on contemporary Southeast Asian art and exhibitions from the 1990s to the present.
She was recently Public Programs Coordinator at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) and previously Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at the National Gallery of Australia, where she was part of a curatorium for the major exhibition Contemporary Worlds: Indonesia.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne and completed her Honours year at the Australian National University where she received the Janet Wilkie Prize for Art History in 2017.
Bianca’s recent projects include Talking Contemporary podcast (2021–ongoing), Sang Gunung Menyerahkan Jejaknya ke Laut (The Mountain Gives Way to the Sea), Cush Cush Gallery, Bali, Indonesia (2023), Crossroads/Titik Temu: Eugenia Lim x Yaya Sung, Bus Projects, Melbourne (2020), and Who am I: Chinese-Indonesian art practice post-1998, Intermission Gallery, Monash Art, Design and Architecture, Melbourne (2019). Bianca’s curatorial projects have been supported by the Australian Council for the Arts (now Creative Australia), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Goethe Institute, Artlink Australia, and more.
